The Los Angeles Jazz Institute has designed a number of programs which utilize the many elements of the Archive. This includes Concerts, Festivals, Symposiums, The Los Angeles Oral History Project and The Lighthouse Record Company.

JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Jazz Institute produces an annual four day jazz extravaganza that explores a specific topic through concerts, panel discussions, film showings and special presentations. Jazz fans travel to Los Angeles from all over the world to participate in this unique event. CONCERTS

The Jazz Institute also presents a variety of concerts throughout the Los Angeles area. Recent events have included: Rugolomania, A Tribute to Pete Rugolo, Lighthouse at Laguna, A West Coast Jazz Christmas, Stan Kenton 60th Anniversary Celebration, Bill Holman-Bill Russo Concert Encores and a 50th Anniversary Celebration of The Gerry Mulligan Quartet.

LOS ANGELES ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

The Jazz Institute has initiated an an oral history project interviewing as many artists as possible who played a role in the development of jazz on the west coast. Subjects include Gerry Mulligan, Howard Rumsey, Pete Rugolo, Bob Enevoldsen, Roy Porter, Gerald Wilson, Bill Holman, Terry Gibbs and many others.

LIGHTHOUSE RECORD COMPANY

The Los Angeles Jazz Institute, under the guidance of Howard Rumsey, has been granted permission to relaunch The Lighthouse Record Company. Releases on the Lighthouse label are available only to members of the Jazz Institute
